Service Delivery is the management of the IT services themselves, and involves a number of management practices to ensure that IT services are provided as agreed between the Service Provider and the Customer.
Service Delivery consists of 5 disciplines. These are:
- Service Level Management - the primary management of IT services which ensures that agreed services are delivered when and where they are supposed to be delivered.
- Capacity Management - ensures that IT infrastructure is provided at the right time in the right volume and at the right price to ensure that IT is used with the greatest efficiency.
- Continuity Management - the process by which plans are put in place to ensure that IT services can recover and continue operations in the event of disruption.
- Availability Management - the practice of identifying levels of IT service availability for use in the review of Service Levels with customers.
- IT Financial Management - the discipline of ensuring that IT infrastructure is obtained at the most effective price and calculating the cost of IT service provision.
